On Nov. 11, Veterans Day, bypassers were able to observe a group of protesters picketing outside the White House as they bore Nazi-inspired iconography. According to sources, the two Washington D.C.-based organizations behind the event collaborated with President Joe Biden’s administration on a similar event earlier in the year.
Critics were quick to pick up those mainstream media outlets pushing the narrative of rising antisemitism have ignored this “gathering.” Meanwhile, the U.S.-government-owned news network and international radio broadcaster Voice of America (VOA) provided extensive coverage through their Ukraine outlet. The article attached a photo of Ukraine war veteran Roman Kashpur performing a fascist salute. A video clip (shown below) features people holding a banner with a Wolfsangel symbol, which appeared as part of the divisional insignia of several Waffen-SS units, including the notorious 2nd SS “Das Reich” Panzer Division. Rallygoers also chanted “Bring our heroes home!” and “Make Russia pay!”

The coverage further included an interview with the protest organizer Nadiya Shaporynska, who said: “Our main message today is a call for the release of prisoners-defenders of Azovstal. We are now asking the United States for help to free them as soon as possible.” Per reports, she coordinated directly with Biden’s White House during past initiatives. She and a group of activists with longstanding ties to neo-Nazi militias managed to arrange for high-level Biden administration officials to speak at a rally back in February. The said event featured United States Agency for International Development (USAID) director Samantha Power as its keynote speaker. The U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Karen Donfried and other local and federal officials also joined the rally.
The United Help Ukraine and U.S. Ukrainian Activists are the two organizations that headed these events and they are reported to have close ties with the Ukrainian embassy. Back in August when President Volodymyr Zelensky went to the U.S., he awarded Shaporynska with the Ukrainian Order of Merit. On the other hand, Aldave was said to have worked for the U.S. government and has been described by her organization as a “true Banderite” or a follower of Stepan Bandera, a Ukrainian far-right leader of the radical militant wing of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists.
Independent news website Grayzone reported that since the Maidan coup, Aldave and Shaporynska have fundraised for Ukrainian fascist groups such as the Azov Battalion, the Aidar Battalion, Right Sektor, and the Georgian National Legion. The Maidan Revolution, which is otherwise called the “Revolution of Dignity” took place in Ukraine in February 2014 at the end of the Euromaidan protests, when deadly clashes between protesters and state forces in the capital Kyiv culminated in the ousting of elected President Viktor Yanukovych and a return to the 2004 Constitution of Ukraine. It also led to the outbreak of the Russo-Ukrainian War.
Months before an event of the Georgian Legion, a military unit formed by mostly ethnic Georgian volunteers fighting on the side of Ukraine event, Shaporynska and company held a charity concert for the Azov Battalion. At the time, Azov was led by Andriy Biletsky, an overtly fascist militant who was recently filmed receiving a medal of commendation from Zelensky. Biletsky has vowed to “lead the white races of the world in a final crusade…against Semite-led Untermenschen,” and described the enemy of his movement as Jews, and the political forces led by the “real masters,” who also happen to be Jews.
President Joe Biden’s White House denounced over the weekend a protest targeting a Jewish restaurant in Philadelphia. It called the rally “antisemitic and completely unjustifiable.” The Jerusalem Post posted on X, formerly Twitter, a video of rallyists outside, Goldie, a Kosher restaurant owned by Israeli chef Michael Solomonov. The protestors outside the falafel restaurant were chanting: “Goldie, Goldie you can’t hide, we charge you with genocide.”

Pennsylvania’s Democratic governor Josh Shapiro criticized the rally and called it “blatant antisemitism,” saying the restaurant was targeted simply because its owner is Jewish. “Tonight in Philly, we saw a blatant act of antisemitism – not a peaceful protest. A restaurant was targeted and mobbed because its owner is Jewish and Israeli. This hate and bigotry is reminiscent of a dark time in history,” he commented. White House’s spokesman Andrew Bates mirrored the criticism, pointing out that it was antisemitic and completely unjustifiable to target restaurants that serve Israeli food over disagreements with Israeli policy, as Shapiro has underlined. “This behavior reveals the kind of cruel and senseless double standard that is a calling card of Antisemitism. President Biden has fought against the evil of Antisemitism his entire life, including by launching the first national strategy to counter this hate in American history. He will always stand up firmly against these kinds of undignified actions,” he claimed.
