This is presidential power on life support – and Jill Biden is refusing to pull the plug.
(Article republished from DailyMail.co.uk)
For someone who ridiculously insists on being called ‘Dr.’ — Jill is not a medical doctor, or even a PhD, just America’s most famous community college teacher — well, Jill seems quite the opposite.
What she is doing to her husband is arguably elder abuse, and what she’s doing to the nation is unforgivable.
It’s not enough that The New York Times, the day after last Thursday’s calamitous debate, called on President Biden to step down.
Or that the New Yorker, The Economist, the Chicago Tribune, and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution have all, too, called for Biden to go.
As for the American electorate, a damning new CBS poll shows that 72 percent of registered voters — both Republican and Democrat — think that Joe Biden should not be running for a second term.
The same percentage said that they don’t think he is mentally and cognitively fit to serve as president.
That last data point begs a larger question, one the mainstream media — telling us, up until last week, that videos of Biden wandering off at the G7 or acting confused at Normandy or generally stumbling around, looking vacant and open-mouthed, were all ‘cheap fakes’ — has yet to get around to: Who is really running the United States of America?
Jill could surely tell us, but she’s too busy hustling her corpse-like husband, ‘Weekend at Bernie’s’-style, from debate stage to the stump to a glitzy Hamptons fundraiser this weekend, acting as if everything is totally fine, all systems go, nothing to see here.
Oh — and also seeming to green-light a hagiographic Vogue cover that went live on Monday, Jill in a cream designer suit, lit like a religious apparition, our sainted Dr. Jill looking to the heavens.
Her name is displayed in enormous font, a size that will surely be deployed when her husband is forced to drop out. Until then, she offers this defiant cover quote: ‘We will decide our future’.
To anyone thinking she’s talking about voters and American democracy — allow me to disabuse you.
Jill means that the Biden family alone will decide if Joe stays in the race. And if she has her way, he will.
That’s the Bidens for you: craven, cynical, selfish, shameless to the last.
It’s quite clear they don’t give a crap about America, or the average voter, or national security or our allies.
The Biden family doesn’t care that nearly every other leader at the G7 expressed alarm at Biden’s decline.
Or that 45 government officials, on both sides of the aisle, told the Wall Street Journal just weeks ago that Biden appears to fall asleep in meetings.
Or that, as reported Monday, Joe is only functioning between the hours of 10am to 4pm (if you believe that, which I don’t).
If anything, this would be the moment a caring family — a truly loving wife — pulls up the drawbridge, saves their husband and father from himself, seeks to preserve his legacy and insists he withdraw with dignity.
But ‘dignity’ and the Biden family aren’t familiar with each other. They’re not even on glancing terms.
Nope: As reports emerge that party officials have told the president he has the week to prove his capability or voluntarily step down, that Joe himself feels ‘humiliated’ over his debate performance, Jill and Hunter Biden are said to be urging Joe to stay in the race.
Of course they are! This is what Bidens do: When given the choice to act with grace or greed, with courage or cynicism, to choose their patriotic duty over personal sacrifice, they’ll always take the lesser option.
One suspects Jill and Hunter cling to the presidency because they know, deep down, that without it they’re classless, over-leveraged with multiple mortgages, mounting legal bills, and no second act in sight.
Without Joe as president, what do these two have to offer?
So here’s Jill turning to Anna Wintour — another dinosaur clinging to power — and hosting a sycophantic Vogue writer who relays ‘drinking honey-ginger tea’ out of ‘dainty cups’ with the otherwise-down-to-earth First Lady, as they gaze upon the White House’s South Lawn.
‘We don’t need more chaos,’ Jill tells her interviewer.
HA! If she really believes that, there’s one sure way to show it.
Yet in this very profile, we must endure friends and staffers talking about regular, good-old Jill, who doesn’t really like D.C. or the trappings of power and celebrity, who would be more than happy to leave the White House behind.
If you believe that, I’ve got Corn Pop out back ready to show you how he, not Joey, beat Medicare.
‘She misses “normal”,’ Jill’s close friend Mary Doody says. ‘I guarantee you, when [Joe] leaves office… they’ll be home and happy to be home.’
Really? Because the otherwise left-leaning media has just built them an off-ramp — a wheelchair accessible one at that.
And here’s Jill’s ‘work husband’, her senior adviser Anthony Bernal, who has reportedly sexually harassed and bullied colleagues: ‘Her family means everything to her.’
Yeah, sorry, no. Not buying it. If family meant everything to Dr. Jill, she would have told Joe, long ago, that he wasn’t seeking a second term.
If family meant everything, she wouldn’t have dragged her husband to a televised campaign event after that catastrophic debate, condescendingly telling him, ‘You did such a great job! You answered every question!’
This is the president of the United States, not a small child in remedial reading.
What is it with the Biden family and their propensity for public humiliation?
If family was everything to Jill, she wouldn’t have wrapped herself in a post-debate ‘VOTE’ dress.
She wouldn’t have dragged Joe to a midnight Waffle House stop way past his bedtime.
And she wouldn’t have called Annie Leibovitz to Camp David this weekend to shoot a grand, ceremonial family photograph marking her husband’s lowest point ever. To memorialize what we all know is the end of his hopes, if not his place in history.
And as for that vaunted ‘democracy’ Jill insists she’s fighting for — well, we didn’t elect her.
How hypocritical to claim that Donald Trump poses the greatest threat to democracy, ever, when we don’t even know who’s really in charge in the Biden White House.
Towards the end of her Vogue profile, Jill is quoted addressing a ‘Women for Biden’ event, talking about Trump and her husband’s enemies.
‘They underestimate our power,’ Jill says, ‘because they don’t understand it’.
Truer words that chill the spine.
