If you think Washington’s corrupt influence over world affairs is primarily contained within North America, Europe, and the Middle East, think again.
Newly released exclusive interviews and leaked messages show that United States meddling is also occurring in Ecuador where Washington has a hand in who gets prosecuted for criminal activity and who, despite guilt, is getting a free pass.
Thanks to U.S. influence, Ecuador’s fight against corruption and criminal organizations is skewed. The South American ally selectively prosecuted its own heads of state, including the vicious persecution of Rafael Correa and his Revolución Ciudadana movement on “flimsy evidence,” to quote The Grayzone‘s Oscar Leon, while delaying or halting investigations into the much more serious crimes committed by Correa’s successors.
Ecuadorian prosecutor Diana Salazar, for example, is identified in the new revelations as having leaked information to a subject of an ongoing investigation. Salazar’s efforts undermined the prosecution of the various associates of Ecuador’s current and previous U.S.-aligned presidents. We also know that Salazar worked closely with Washington to decide who to inform and who not to inform.

The above video contains a full breakdown of Leon’s discoveries about the U.S.-driven corruption problem in Ecuador and the negative impact this lawfare epidemic continues to have on Ecuadorian society.
“Invading and occupying a country has historically come at a high cost, both financially and in terms of human lives,” Leon explains. “However, in the 21st century, where asymmetrical warfare prevails, dominating a nation can be achieved through more subtle means. Enter lawfare – an easier and less costly method of steering a key country in the geopolitical chess game.”
“Despite presiding over Ecuador’s decline from a country with functioning institutions to what some now call a narco-state, Attorney General Diana Salazar has recently been leading what many critics describe as a ‘witch hunt’ against the left-leaning Revolución Ciudadana Movement, under the guise of fighting corruption and narco-trafficking.”
Sound familiar? If so, that is because this is the exact same thing that we as Americans are witnessing right here in our own country as, depending on which political party controls which wings of politics, lawfare is the usual weapon in trying to subvert the criminal justice process as it is supposed to work.
In Ecuador’s case, U.S. influence is trying to stop the Revolución Ciudadana Movement from taking hold, even if the people of Ecuador want it to, because it is an apparent threat to U.S. interests. Why is the U.S. allowed such a high degree of leeway over foreign affairs?
Also in Ecuador’s case, it is the right wing of politics that appears to be guilty of the most crimes needing prosecution. And yet, U.S. interests continue to block these prosecutions of right-wing politicians in Ecuador while pushing for more left-wing prosecutions.
In the U.S., we are seeing the other side of that coin as the current far-left Biden regime engages in lawfare against the right wing – and particularly the Donald Trump wing of the new Republican Party.
“It is fairly unprecedented to have an A.G. exert such influence over the three branches of the state – raiding judges’ homes at will, opening investigations into political opponents that remain open for years with no clear cause until one is found, and influencing elections,” Leon writes.
“The power of an attorney general, supported by the political right, the U.S. Embassy, and the media, has taken control of Ecuadorian politics.”
