Now that his tenure as president of the United States is coming to a close, we can look back on Barack Obama’s time in office as a whole and realize how much of a disaster it has truly been. Between all of the drone strikes and the nightmare that is Obamacare, the man has done quite a bit of damage. To us working class Americans, Barack Obama has supported a number of regulations that affect our ability to make money — and now it seems as though he is adding a whole lot more.
In one day, he added 527 pages of federal regulations. While we don’t know exactly what is inside, it can often be determined that more regulations is a terrible thing. They prevent businesses from flourishing and hinder the success of average Americans who are just trying to make a living. So adding this many regulations almost certainly means bad news.
Clyde Wayne Crews of the Competitive Enterprise Institute stated, “No one knows what the future holds, but at a pace of well over 1,000 pages weekly, the Federal Register could easily top 90,000 pages this year. The simple algebra says that at the current pace we’ll add 11,190 pages over the next 44 days, to end 2016 at around 92,830 pages … This is astonishing and should be of great concern, and intolerable, to policymakers.”
Considering how badly Obama has taken Hillary Clinton’s loss to Donald Trump, it isn’t out of the question that he will impose a number of regulations that negatively effect working class Americans out of spite in order to send one last “screw you” to the American people. The federal government has been so corrupt for so long that we cannot count this out. We need to keep a watchful eye on Obama even though he is on his way out of office.
If there is one thing we have learned from his eight years as president, it’s that we cannot trust him to do what is best for the American people. We can only trust him to do what is best for himself.
With Donald Trump, we have the opportunity and the chance to have a federal government that leaves the American people alone and allows them to take care of themselves. Trump ran on this kind of outlook and it is up to us to hold him and his staff up to these standards. We have won a battle but there is still a war waging every single day. Freedom is never a guarantee and we all have to fight to achieve it.
