Just months after President Obama was inaugurated, he was awarded a Nobel Peace Prize not for anything he had actually done but for what many believed he would eventually do.
As Natural News reported last month, the award was much more style than substance. Specifically, the prize committee noted:
The Norwegian Nobel Committee has decided that the Nobel Peace Prize for 2009 is to be awarded to President Barack Obama for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples. The Committee has attached special importance to Obama’s vision of and work for a world without nuclear weapons.
Obama has as President created a new climate in international politics. Multilateral diplomacy has regained a central position, with emphasis on the role that the United Nations and other international institutions can play. [Emphasis added]
Having only been in office nine months, Obama hadn’t actually accomplished anything of consequence, leaving many to believe that the award was given as a way for the globalist Left to ingratiate themselves to the first black U.S. president. Now, it appears, after just a few weeks in office, Infowars reports that Israel is set to nominate President Donald J. Trump for a Nobel Peace Prize, though it’s not yet clear what the award would be based upon.
There have been reports that Trump was leaning towards moving the U.S. Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem because it is Israel’s official capital. As reported by Breitbart:
Jerusalem has been Israel’s capital city since its founding in 1948, but most countries have deferred moving the embassy there because the original UN partition plan for the British Mandate proposed Jerusalem as a city under international sovereignty.
But this wouldn’t necessarily qualify Trump for a peace prize; already there are threats of violence if the administration follows through (here, here, and here).
Obama would eventually accomplish one thing after earning his “peace” prize of “hope”: Dropping more bombs in a single year than the vast majority of other U.S. presidents. Let’s see if President Trump can accomplish something a little more peaceful.
