AG Sessions may FIRE crooked FBI deputy director McCabe rather than let him retire with a full pension after Trump spying scandal

Last December, as details surrounding the Obama administration’s politically motivated spying on the Trump campaign began pouring out, FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe suddenly announced he would “retire” by March 21.

As reported by The Washington Post, McCabe was going to wait that long to retire officially so he would become eligible for federal benefits. After all, he earned them, right?

No doubt he did; McCabe has served his country mostly honorably for the better part of 21 years.

But his involvement in what can only be described as a conspiracy to undermine and thwart Donald J. Trump as the Republican presidential nominee and later as president may have just cost him all of the good years he put in.

According to The New York Times, McCabe may be fired by the end of this week if Attorney General Jeff Sessions acts on an internal recommendation made by the Department of Justice.

The paper noted:

Mr. McCabe is ensnared in an internal review that includes an examination of his decision in 2016 to allow F.B.I. officials to speak with reporters about an investigation into the Clinton Foundation. The Justice Department’s inspector general concluded that Mr. McCabe was not forthcoming during the review, according to the people briefed on the matter. That yet-to-be-released report triggered an F.B.I. disciplinary process that recommended his termination — leaving Mr. Sessions to either accept or reverse that decision.

The Times noted further that while no decision has been made as of yet, some sources inside the DoJ said that Sessions was leaning towards firing McCabe before Friday, which would endanger his pension as a 21-year veteran of the department.

“The department follows a prescribed process by which an employee may be terminated,” said DoJ spokeswoman Sarah Isgur Flores. She did not tell the Times one way or the other what McCabe’s fate would be. “That process includes recommendations from career employees, and no termination decision is final until the conclusion of that process. We have no personnel announcements at this time.”

President Trump, who has been highly critical of McCabe and has blamed him for his role in misusing the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court to improperly spy on his 2016 campaign, clearly would like to see him fired if we are to believe a Dec. 23 tweet in which he wrote: “FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe is racing the clock to retire with full benefits. 90 days to go?!!!”

To refresh your memory, McCabe is suspected of being in on the plot to deny Trump the presidency. He was mentioned by FBI Deputy Director of Counterintelligence Peter Strzok, in a text to his paramour FBI lawyer Lisa Page, of being aware of what sounded like a plot to thwart Trump.

Also, as Fox News legal analyst and attorney Gregg Jarrett has said, McCabe and other Obama-era FBI and DoJ officials could be in legal jeopardy over their involvement in the Trump campaign spying.

In addition, Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Texas, a former state judge, has said he believes McCabe and the others should be jailed for “FISA Court fraud” — specifically, for using the bogus “Trump-Russia dossier” to obtain a warrant to spy on Trump campaign manager Carter Page.

You may remember that the House Intelligence Committee said the FBI misrepresented the opposition research document paid for in part by the Hillary Clinton campaign as a legitimate intelligence document when it was not; McCabe was one of the FBI officials who signed off on a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court request to spy on Trump campaign official Carter Page, relying in large part on the discredited dossier.

McCabe no doubt gave many years of good service to the FBI and to our country. But Sessions must fire him if he wants the majority of the country’s faith to be restored in federal law enforcement.

Sessions has to send the signal to the rest of the Deep State that there will be consequences for politically weaponizing the FBI and DoJ.
