Liberals have been fighting tooth and nail to stop President Trump from adding a citizenship question to the 2020 census, even going so far as to have one of their unelected activist judges forcibly block it out of sheer spite.
Judge Jesse Furman, an Obama appointee, recently signed off on banning the citizenship question, which is forcing the Trump administration to utilize other means in trying to determine how many non-citizens are currently living in the United States (and illegally voting for Democrats).
According to Judge Furman’s ruling, Trump officials are now officially barred from including a citizenship question on the 2020 census, and “delaying the process of printing the 2020 decennial census questionnaire until after June 30, 2019 for the purpose of including a citizenship question.”
The Trump administration is also being muzzled “from asking persons about citizenship status on the 2020 census questionnaire or otherwise asking a citizenship question as part of the 2020 decennial census,” the ruling further states.
The Hill is reporting that the ban is permanent, though the order can only be enforced by Judge Furman “until the 2020 census results are processed and sent to the President by December 31, 2020.”

Judge Furman was reportedly instructed to make this ruling by the far-left American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), as well as by the state of New York, both of which claim that the Department of Justice (DOJ) “does not oppose” its signing.
A letter co-written by the two entities took aim at an executive order recently issued by President Trump, which instructed federal agencies to procure records relating to citizenship from the U.S. Department of Commerce after it was determined that there was “no practical mechanism for including the [citizenship] question on the 2020 decennial census.”
The Supreme Court also made its opinion on the matter known last month in a 5-4 decision against including the citizenship question on the 2020 census. Chief Justice John Roberts wrote that the effort by the Trump administration is “contrived,” and that there’s no rationale for doing it.
When President Trump responded to the Supreme Court’s decision that he would still be trying to include the question, this prompted the filing of multiple lawsuits, as well as the ACLU and the state of New York to send its letter to Judge Furman.
Following all of this, Trump eventually conceded, issuing an executive order to seek the retrieval of citizenship status through other means, which is reportedly what the Census Bureau had originally recommended he do.
As is typically the case, leftists opposed to the citizenship question being added to the 2020 census had claimed that it bore “discriminatory intent” – because any attempt to enforce of our immigration laws is “racist,” of course, at least to Democrats.
Hilariously, some liberals have tried to argue that getting an accurate count of who’s a citizen and who isn’t would result in an undercount of “minority” groups including Hispanics and other “immigrants.” This, they claim, would lead to an “inaccurate” count of the U.S. population.
“Thomas Jefferson foresaw the evils of judicial encroachment when, in effect, he said the Court, under
its philosophy, made the Constitution a mere thing of wax to be twisted into any form they pleased,” wrote one commenter at The Gateway Pundit about the threat of a radicalized Supreme Court.
“[T]hat to consider the Judges the ultimate arbiter of the Constitution would place us under the despotism of an oligarchy,” this same commenter added.
